"The Gibraltar Heritage Trust is at the forefront of preserving this rich legacy. Saving one's heritage in any country is never an easy task. The cries of the minority are often drowned in the clamour for housing. There is never enough money and, in the end, pragmatism and compromise prevail. But what the members of the Heritage Trust have lacked in money they have made up for in a crusading enthusiasm equal to that of the suffragettes. They have not yet tied themselves to the 1 8th century Georgian railings but their message is loud and clear. There are few residents of Gibraltar today who do not know the importance of preserving their heritage. Heritage is always vulnerable to the capriciousness of its custodians, but this awareness is a triumph for the Heritage Trust which is now reaching the minds and pockets of the public and government."

From the book "Impressions of Gibraltar" by Peter Bond.
